AKARI 20N TABLE LAMP

In 1951, Isamu Noguchi created the Akari Light Sculptures, characterized by weightless luminosity. He chose the name“akari,” meaning “light” in Japanese, reflecting both illumination and physical lightness. During a visit to Gifu, Japan, Noguchi sketched his first Akari designs, eventually creating over 100 models. Each luminaire is handcrafted in the Ozeki workshop using traditional techniques. Bamboo rods are stretched across Noguchi’s original wooden forms, then covered with washi paper strips. The shade is folded and packed in flat boxes.
